The University of the Philippines Alumni Association of Hawaii (UPAAH), in cooperation with the Philippine Consulate General in Honolulu, proudly presents “Harmonies Across the Pacific: UP Rondalla Musical Tour in Hawai‘i” to celebrate Filipino American History Month this October. A weeklong cultural and educational tour includes a series of free public performances, workshops, and community events.
The UP Rondalla, renowned for its mastery of traditional Filipino string instruments such as the bandurria, laud, octavina, guitar, and double bass, has earned international acclaim for blending folk traditions with contemporary works. Their performances bring to life the rich tapestry of Philippine musical heritage, captivating audiences across the globe.
This event is made possible through the support of the University of the Philippines, Philippine Consulate General in Honolulu, the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa’s Center for Philippine Studies, UH Manoa Music Department, the Filipino Community Center, the Filipino Chamber of Commerce of Hawaii Foundation, and generous donations from supporters like you.
