Aloha UPAAH!
We are inviting all, including your friends and family, to celebrate Earth Day 2024 in volunteering to a tree planting project during the Ewa Village Community Day this Saturday, April 6th.
Wear your favorite UP T-shirt or get your UPAAH t-shirt ($15 if you paid your membership, otherwise $20). WE ARE GIVING AWAY UPAAH T-SHIRTS TO THE FIRST 5 VOLUNTEERS! We will have doughnuts and coffee for early-comers at 6 am. Please email your contact information to Tim Llena @ TimLLena.mail@gmail.com before 6 pm on Friday, April 5.

April 5
-If someone can be on standby to pick up the trees. Nurseries usually close at 3:30 pm. I am still calling around for the best deal. If not we will go with ACE FARM Waimanalo.
I know folks have been offering cuttings but we will not work with cuttings. We will give them away though.
-If anyone wants a head start late afternoon, that is welcome also.
April 6
6:30 am - Arrival. All plant volunteers gather under the tree in front of the former plantation manager's house for pule, instructions and signing of waiver liabilities.
Parking - gravel area where Lanakila Baptist School parks or the Ewa Post Office parking space across or street parking. All these will work. GPS 91-1219 Renton Road Ewa Beach 96706
6:45 am - Play by ear if we join the PAINT group for pule.
7:00 am - Start - Volunteers invited include Lanakila Baptist School and UPAAH and lately, local Knights of Columbus members might join also. So hopefully, the more, the merrier.
8:00 or 8:30 am - Planting ceremony blessing. This simply means that the plant has been put in the hole and the community can do their share of blessing. We are especially wanting the blessings from those who remember the place as the vibrant Ewa Plantation Town Community.
9:00- onward - finishing touches. like guards and water bags installed.
Tools - Hope it can be on volunteers own. However, let me know if we have to reimburse new purchases.
Food and Beverage - Hope the various groups will bring their own.We might be able to pick up some munchies like spanish rolls and oranges lang. We will send a "token" honorarium to the group for lunch esp. because we are apparently down to 1 food truck for this event.
